If all the world is a stage, I believe witches are the best players around. Well, smart witches at least. A smart witch can recognize what role to play at what time. I think it goes without saying I consider myself to be a smart witch.
I’ve always been good about downplaying my own needs to fit in. How else would someone survive Slytherin without being labelled as a traitor or an outcast? The Slytherin house wasn’t exactly known for being democratic about accepting other people’s opinions. Of course, a talented actress like me could be considered a little over dramatic.
But now I’m accepting the role of the dutiful daughter and taking the job at the Ministry my mum lined up for me. She wants me to follow in her footsteps and become a politician. It isn’t the career I dreamed of, but as an actress I’m more than equipped to handle it. Then again, I’ve been told this was going to be my career for so long I don’t really know what I would have chosen for myself. Long live nepotism.
I fully expect to encounter problems with my work. People won’t expect me; I’m young and don’t have any job experience. All they’ll see is a spoiled girl who ran away with her father during the end of the war and whose mother got her a job she isn’t qualified for. I’ll show them all. I’ll work harder than anyone else at the Ministry and before long I’ll prove to them all that I am the best person to fill the Junior Undersecretary to the Minister post.
I know what it takes to survive and advance in the Ministry. I know just what role to play.
